my mom walked away from the org, disillusioned by the wt, never da or difd so occasionally still gets the mags delivered and a warning to hurry up back before she dies at armageddon.
shes a peaceable person so has never rocked the boat, doesnt want to lose her jw family, her brother is an elder and has never once phoned or called to speak to her since she stopped attending meetings.

In all honesty, insanity. Couldn't handle the pressure and the guilt trips that chased me everywhere I moved and then drifted into a sexual relationship with a friend off the back of a break down, and then just walked away.
Later examined my belief system and the TRUTH(?) and found that I could not bare many of the teachings... blood, prophecy, Christian unity (so-called), having to log hours and do ritualistic ministry, etc

Agreed - the headship thing is widely abused. I still deal with a brother (although he is rather fringe shall we say) and his attitude towards his wife is dreadful. She quickly turns into slave class ..... fetch this, do that, do this.
